Have a memorable self catering holiday in Cornwall with a difference staying in a beautifully
restored and well appointed railway carriage. We have three carriages at the working stations of St Germans and one in Hayle, each surrounded by its own enclosed garden. Both locations are on the Great Western Railway line from London to Penzance and have good train services, including direct London trains. You can also find us on
As a family company we strive to go that little bit further to make our
holidays special. Our conversions are carried out to a high standard with a great deal of effort to retain the character
of the carriages. We pride ourselves on our green ethos and offer an environmentally friendly holiday without compromising quality or comfort. We've won the 2013-14 Visit Cornwall silver award for Sustainable Tourism, and bronze award for Wildlife Friendly Business. We also won a Judge's Commendation for our work on Mevy in the Cornwall Sustainability Awards.
We welcome dogs, walkers, cyclists and families. All our carriages are non smoking and Mevy is pet free. We open all year.
"No detail has been overlooked - the attention given to everything we'd need was superb"

The St Ives Bay SK2 carriage holiday home
Harvey is a
1950's corridor coach in the coastal town of Hayle, West Cornwall, UK, 5 miles from St Ives.
With most of its original features intact, this coach offers a nostalgia trip back to the glory days of steam and is
within easy walking distance of golden sands and fine restaurants and pubs.
Harvey has a large garden with swings and signal box playhouse/bird-hide. It featured in Discovery Channel's 'Amazing Conversions' series.
The Travelling Post Office railway carriage holiday home
Featured on the BBC's
Great British Railway Journeys with Michael Portillo, this Victorian coach is a gem; Clerestory windows along the full length of the
coach offer a special feeling of light and space, while retaining the cosiness of a wooden coach.
The Old Luggage Van is located on a delightful site at the western end of St Germans Station. The Old Luggage Van has been featured on the BBC Breakfast
News, and in several national newspapers and magazines. Quirky, cosy and charming, it nestles in a garden filled with spring bulbs and camellias and is perfect for couples or individuals.
The Old Luggage Van was Railholiday's first venture, and it was the success and popularity of this holiday home that
inspired us to convert further coaches.
Mevy our Victorian slip coach, is
located on a delightful site below the station at St Germans and is our most sumptuous carriage to date - beautifully illustrated by footage on ITV News in September 2013.
With three classes of accommodation we've really gone to town, with English gold and Italian velvet in the first class bedroom and bespoke triple bunk beds in the guard’s room. Mevy does not have a trackside location, but instead looks out to the river and rolling hills beyond.
Why have just another holiday cottage in Cornwall when you could have a unique holiday with a difference?
