Thoroughly excellent at Paradise Park with lots to see and do and a really good adventure
playground.

Possible on Sundays all year round |
At Hayle Station go down Station hill (do not cross the railway). You can stock up with
provisions at the grocers at the bottom, which is open on Sundays, should you wish to.
Turn left onto the main road, then second left onto the A30 for Helston. (There are signs
at this junction for Paradise Park.) Proceed up the hill, and fork right at the top (again
there are signs for Paradise Park). Paradise Park is 100 or so metres on the right.
The pub at the entrance to the park, The Bird in Hand, sells good real ales from a local
Hayle brewery, and offers the usual selection of bar meals from 12 to 3pm and in the evening.
An added attraction here are the ‘coin in the slot’ go-karts for children in the beer garden.
Paradise Park itself is an impressive place with lots on offer and plenty for a family to do.
There is an excellent play area for children of all ages, a fun farm, a mini train (rides 50p)
lots of parrots and other exotic birds with accompanying information on the wildlife. There
are otters, penguins, red pandas, red squirrels, an owl collection and even a Cornish Chough
Colony. There is a café in the Park, and the prices are £5.99 adults, £4.99 senior citizens,
and £3.99 for children over 4. Return tickets for another day can be bought as you leave for
£1.50 adults, or £1 children. If you wish to return later in the day there is a hand stamping
system. Paradise Park is the home of the World Parrot Trust.
Return to Hayle the way you came. On the right, towards the bottom of the hill, you may like
to detour into the park and rope walk created by Hayle council from an eighteenth century
industrial complex.
At the roundabout just below the station go under the viaduct and keep the water on your left.
Continue along this road until you reach a footbridge on the left. Cross this footbridge and
head towards the sand dunes and the coast. It takes between twenty and thirty minutes to walk
to the beach, but it is well worth it, as the views are stunning and the sand is beautifully
fine and golden. There is a pasty shop en route -just in case hunger strikes!.
On the return cross the main road just after the footbridge, and walk under a bridge into a
small park. This footpath takes you back to the station at Hayle.
The contact number for Paradise Park is 01736 757407.
