Here are just a few of the activities on offer;

· Blue Reef Aquarium - The aquarium is situated by Towan beach. Tel: 01637 878134.

· Tunnels Through Time - Open Easter to October, Sunday to Friday. Tunnels through time is a kind of Cornish Madame Tussaudes It recreates the Cornish characters and myths with a mixture of fact and fiction. Among the displays are Bolster the Giant, King Arthur, Merlin, pirates, smugglers and wreckers, the first Duke of Cornwall, a witch and a highwayman. There are recreations of the plague, mining and family life, as well as fairy tribes, the undersea city of Lyonnese and the tale of the enchanting mermaid Morvena. For those with strong stomachs, there is the Dungeon of Despair. Tunnels Through T ime is in a Big Pink building on St Michael’s Road. Tel: 01637 873379.

· Water World at Trenance Park. - Large fun indoor pools including a 60 foot water flume, childrens’ slides, gym, café, bar and beer garden. There is also entertainment during the summer months. Tel: 01637 853828.

· Newquay Zoo - Newquay Zoo is open all year and situated in Trenance leisure park. There are opportunities to see various animals being fed every 30 minutes or so, and close contact with the animals is encouraged. There is an African Plains enclosure with zebra, antelope, cranes, porcupines, meerkats and macaques apes. A Nocturnal House is home to Kinkajous and Rodrigues Bats, and Asian otters live in the oriental garden. There are big cats, a tropical house, an animal hospital and plenty of other opportunities to learn about exotic animals and their habitats. A children’s farm and keeper talks as well as regular animal encounter sessions where animals can be met and stroked make this zoo a very interactive place to visit. To keep the children occupied there is an assault course, play area, dragon maze, brass rubbing and face painting. The café overlooks the wildfowl lake and of course for gifts there is a well stocked shop! Tel: 01637 873342

· The Beach - Newquay has a selection of sandy beaches - walk along the coast and take your pick!
